The second book in the Guardian Series is a standalone full length story, so if you didn’t read the first one, no worries, you will still enjoy this book but why deprive yourself of missing out on a great introduction to a new series The Guardians
This time our story involves Maryann “Ryan” MacKenzie and an alphalicious werewolf guardian called Hudson Carver. The first couple of chapters sets the stage for their destiny and proves that even the best laid plans, even those by The Powers That Be, can get shot to hell when the heart wants what the heart wants!
Now, we fast forward a few years and Maryann “Ryan” isn’t the same person that we met at the beginning of the book, but neither is Hudson. They have both been shaped by time and decisions made long ago that cannot be remembered or so it seems. When Hudson Carver receives his latest mission to “babysit” as he calls it a slayer named Ryan, he naturally assumes it’s a guy. Imagine his surprise when he realizes that Ryan is a “she” and he feels like he knows her, but just can’t seem to remember for now. In the meantime, Ryan is busy with her duties training new slayers and dealing with other issues such as her mate is with another woman so she thinks, The Powers That Be interfering in her life, and now evil is after her in a big way.
There are so many twists, turns, and surprises, that I can’t really do this book any justice or favors in a review. YES, IT IS THAT GOOD!! This is a story that must be read to truly appreciate the scope of what Mandy has written in this tale of love & adventure. Hudson and Ryan’s journey to reach their HEA is a rollercoaster ride full of action and emotion that just can’t be missed! This story was soooo worth the time spent waiting for it to be released and now I am fervently looking forward to more guardians in the future no matter how long it may take. '

I ❤❤❤ Ryan's strong Magick character in CROSSING HUDSON; she could mete so much power as a teacher and protector. Roth writes strong heroines and great leading male characters in ALL her books. I found this book a "quick read" but it was difficult to follow in some spots. Time seemed suspended sometimes, like in fight scenes where lots of conversation occurred. Long winded conversations, nonetheless clever and sensational, did throw off the pacing of the scene. I profess to be once a ROTH HEAD, always a ROTH HEAD, but this particular book is not the Mandy M. Roth writing I have come to know and love after reading her work over the years. The elements of a great book are in place, but I feel it could have so much more, Mandy! Life takes it's toll on us all, so I am saying this book reflects on things that get in the way when life happens. Now speaking about books, what about this RULING JUDE book? You have my attention, always. --G
Mandy Roth doesn't disappoint. Each time I read one of her books I settle in to be amazed. If you haven't read the first book in the Guardian series I recommend you buy it and read it now. You don't have to in order to enjoy this book but it will give you a better back story. This is Ryan and Hudson's story. We met Hudson in the first book and now we meet his mate. We find out why he thought she was dead this entire time. I felt my heart breaking the entire time I was reading the book. I kept getting mad at the Powers because I believe they were giving Ryan a poop deal. Ryan cannot survive without Hudson's life force. When Hudson thought she was dead he almost completely shut off her access to him, which almost killed her. Ryan has trouble letting anyone close but when Hudson walks in to her life, years after there "supposed" meeting time, will she let him in? What will happen when she finds out Hudson is the one that broke her heart and almost killed her. Mandy has expanded our worlds with this new installation and I cannot wait to see where she takes this series.
I received an ARC copy for a review but will still purchase the book because it was amazing.

I was given a copy of Crossing Hudson by Mandy Roth in exchange for an honest review. This second book in The Guardians series. If you haven't read the first book in the Guardian series, I recommend read first as it will give some insight into the characters. This book is filled with all the snarky humor, action packed, steamy writing we expect from a Mandy Roth book.
Ryan (Maryann) Mackenzie was born with one destiny, to be a light for her alpha mate, helping him to fend off the darkness. However, sometimes fate can be a cruel mistress. Everything changes for sweet Maryann when she accidentally meets up with her mate, who she calls Cowboy, before their appointed meeting time. She is forced to erase Cowboy’s memory of her. Tragedy strikes and timid Maryann is no more, left for dead, thinking her mate has abandoned her she most forge ahead. As she is transformed into Ryan, a slayer who doesn’t let anything stand in her way. She’ll do anything too keep those she loves protected from the evil that’s on her tail. She doesn’t need some alpha Guardian getting in her way even if he is sexy as sin.
Hudson Carver, Guardian and alpha shifter, spends his time taking out evil. So he’s not too happy about his latest assignment, watching someone named Ryan’s back. Ryan is not at all what he was expecting and he has no problem keeping an eye on her back, backside that is. Hudson is instantly drawn to this sassy slayer and refuses to leave her side. It’s only a matter of time before he realizes who she is to him, his mate, the mate that he thought died years ago. He’s not about to let her go without a fight.
Can Hudson keep his head strong woman safe from the evil on her tail? Will Ryan reconcile with the past and let her Cowboy back into her life?
